Rotkohl served on a side plate.
  • Rotkohl-translates to red cabbage.  German red cabbage is often a sweet and tart flavor because of the vinegar, sugar and spices used to flavor it.

  • Sauerkraut-German sauerkraut has a sweet sour flavor because many recipes add applesauce.
  • German sausage and pork chop on sauerkraut.

  • Other helpful hints in case you need to order french fries in German, they are called pommes frites.  A potato is called a kartoffel.
